‘End-of-life vehicles’ in the woods

This car cemetery has been here since the 1940s. The vehicles were abandoned—concealed deep in the woods. The scrap dealer Åke Danielsson (1914-2000) lived in the red shed until 1990. Is this car cemetery part of the cultural heritage of the area? The local government decided otherwise, because the important aspect of preserving cultural heritage that could not be guaranteed. These cars are rusting away—slowly but surely—an irreversible process, which no conservation technician can do anything about. Still, this car cemetery has been left in peace and today it is a major tourist attraction in this sparsely populated area of South Sweden.
